Void
“To the postmodernist mind, everything is empty at the center.” -Suzi Gablik, Has Postmodernism Failed? Ours is a time marked by doubt and skepticism. The failed legacy of modernism, with it’s irrepressible optimism and it’s firm conviction that art could change history, has left the postmodern world riddled with conceptual and emotional voids that are hard to define and sometimes impossible to fill. This series lays bare that feeling of emptiness, of Void: an almost vertiginous void, as much conceptual as emotional and even physical. This becomes a pictoric search for expression of that Void. In this process of exploration, of voids both personal and collective, I begin to question even what lies behind my own work.
